Sometimes I get asked by people how they can be more efficient with their time.  The answer is oftentimes very simple.  Just get up earlier.

The morning is a blessed time.  If you wake up early enough, it is quiet.  It is peaceful.  It allows you to think.  It allows you to have space.  It allows you to get a lot of stuff done uninterrupted.  Whether it’s business, quiet time for prayer, reading, exercise or some combination of the above, you can generate a lot of momentum in the morning just by getting up early.

The result?  By the time you get to your ‘day’, you are more than ready to go and take the day!  I am not sure I have ever met someone that said waking up earlier to have this time gave them a negative result.  Usually it’s more of the ‘I love this time every day’ type of answer.  As people, we need that time to think, reflect and build ourselves up.  Life is tough but the first person we have to work on daily is ourselves.

What not to do during this time?  Check email!  Check social media!  Watch the news!  These avenues are great at distracting you and oftentimes fill your mind with disempowering thoughts.  They have their place but save these for after your morning routine is done.  If there is a true emergency that needs your attention, your phone will ring.  Otherwise, let their time come later.

So if you have not done this, give it a whirl.  Go for 6 am.  If you an early riser but seek more, maybe back up your clock just 30 minutes to start.  Another strategy is to simply back up your clock one minute per day.  Over a month, you will get to 30 minutes earlier.  An hour earlier over two months.

The point is make the shift.  Treat the most important person in your life with the best tools to get stronger.  In doing so, you make yourself better and ultimately will have a more positive impact on everyone around you.
